We got up very, very early and made our way over to Tallinn in Estonia while rain pelted down and the ferry rocked on the waves. The weather was rather miserable and drab all morning, until about mid-day, when the rain suddenly stopped, the sun came out and the skies turned blue.
We spent the day finding crafty treasures (I'll post about my fabulous finds later) in wonderful little shops, eating in lovely little eateries and just walking around, enjoying the beautiful sights, feeling very much like we'd not only gone to an other country, but like we'd stepped into a fairy tale.
The Old Town of Tallinn really does look like something out of a fairy tale, with whimsical old buildings everywhere and twisty little streets winding between them. It's a curious mix of old buildings and very old buildings; the oldest buildings date back to medieval times! And even in miserable weather, the Old Town still manages to look bright and enchanting.
I really wish I had take more photos of this wonderful place, but juggling both camera and umbrella didn't really inspire me, and to be honest, I was simply too spellbound by the sights to think of taking photos of them.
