It's Giveaway Day again!
This is Flakey the rag-snowflake. He's an unique little snowflake at about 22 cm tall.
Flakey made out of soft snowy white flannel and his nose is appliqued stripy blue cotton. He has little button eyes and he's wearing snuggly cotton gingham pyjamas with mother-of-pearl buttons on the back.
Flakey is filled with rags and wool.

Since going to bed early makes Santa come quicker, Flakey has donned his PJs and is going to sleep now in order to make the presents come faster!
To celebrate the spirit of Christmas and the joy of giving I'm taking part in Giveaway Day, and thus I'm giving Flakey the rag-snowflake away to one lucky person who leaves a comment on what they enjoy most about Christmas here on this entry between today and the 6th of December (that's our Independence Day here in Finland!). Every commenter will be assigned a number, with the first person to comment being number 1 and the second commenter would be number 2 and so forth, and then on the 6th, I'll randomly draw a number to see who Flakey will be going home to (I'm happy to ship internationally, so it doesn't matter where you live).
Check out the whole long, long, long list of other wonderful crafters participating in Giveaway Day, too, they're all listed at the Sew Mama Sew-blog!
The best thing about Christmas for me is the decorations, I put up my Christmas lights up yesterday while listening to Christmas songs and I'm really looking forward to getting a real Christmas tree to decorate again. I buy a few new Christmas tree decorations every year, with most of them being bird-related in some way.
I do like Christmas music a lot too, and I tend to listen to it pretty much every day come December. Oh, and Christmas food! I love Christmas food! Joulutortut (Christmas tarts) and glögi (mulled wine) and porkkanalaatikko (carrot casserole) are at the top of my list of things I want to eat at Christmas. :)
Added on the 6th of December:
Commenting is closed now, and a winner has been picked. Thank you so much to everyone who commented, you've made this a super giveaway!

Oh, this guy is cute. My favourite part about Christmas is watching my little girl form attachment to the traditions that I held so dear as a child: decorating, cookie baking, putting out treats for Santa and enjoying special meals.

He's so great! I love making cookies and spending time with family.
Posted by: mj | December 03, 2009 at 12:40 AM
Oh man! I wish I had known about this before - I would have made something to do the same thing with... maybe I still will ;P
Anywho, my favorite thing about Christmas is gingerbread. Hands down, my absolute favorite part of the holidays. I love the taste (and burn!) of real ginger root, but this time of year seems to be the only time when you can find things flavored with it, and I find myself adding it to everything (for example, this morning I had ginger snap cookies with ginger creamer in my coffee, and I have a ginger muffin for dessert this eve :D)
Why does ginger not get love (at least, here in the US) except at this time of year? I don't know, but I know it makes me warm and fuzzy inside, and feel happy, to have this rare treat :D
It most definitely makes putting up with angry or angsty family members that much easier (I got bribed with ginger gravy on our Thanksgiving last week to even show up ;P)

Oh! And, you need to post how to make a carrot casserole... that sounds amazing!
Posted by: Taeliac | December 03, 2009 at 12:44 AM
My favorite tradition is going to a Christmas eve service, and then going home and eating lots of food with my family.
I LOVE THIS SNOWFLAKE!!! It would make a great addition to my home!

this is my first Christmas as a mum so I rather imagine I am about to have a whole new reason to love the season but for me it has always been the way Christmas seems to make everybody just that little bit nicer to each other.

My favorite part of Christmas is Christmas morning. Our children make breakfast and Mommy and Daddy are told to "don't wake up!" When breakfast is made, all of our children pile into our bed and we have a wonderful meal together. Memories I will treasure forever!

Flakey is gorgeous!
I love xmas! the songs, the decoration, the gifts, I love buying presents, the kindness that some people show, the campaigns to help other people. But it's a pitty that people don't do that the rest of the year.
And I love the cold in the xmas eve. Altough here in Portugal, the cold must be nothing compared to finland. I wish it could snow on xmas eve...

This xmas I'm looking forward to seeing my son's eyes go saucer-wide at the sight of our lit up tree. It's only his 2nd xmas and I'm sure he remembers very little of last year so this one's going to be really special seeing him discover all the joys of having his family together, lots of lovely food, shiny and sparkly things and of course the odd present ;)
